実効容量

ストレージシステムに格納されているデータの量に，そのシステムの未使用フォーマット容量（空き容量）を加えたもの．ロードされていないシステムの実効容量を正確に予測する方法はない．この方法は通常，容量最適化技術を用いるシステムで使用される．実効容量は次の計算式で見積もることが出来る。D：格納済みデータのサイズ、Fd：そのデータを格納する為に使われるフォーマット容量、Fｔ：そのシステムの全フォーマット容量、とすると実効容量EeはEe = D / (Fd / Ft)で見積もることが出来る。この見積もり式において未使用フォーマット容量は使われていない。

The amount of data stored on a storage system, plus the amount of unused formatted capacity (free space) in that system. There is no way to precisely predict the effective capacity of an unloaded system. This measure is normally used on systems employing space optimization technologies.An estimated calculation may be made as follows. Let D = the size of data already stored, Fd be the formatted capacity used to store that data, and Ft be the total formatted capacity on the system. Then the estimated effective capacity Ee is given by the formula Ee = D / (Fd / Ft). No unused formatted capacity is used in the estimation calculation.
