主にストレージサブシステムやデバイスをホストバスアダプタを通じてホストに接続するための，I/Oインターコネクトを定義したANSI標準規格と提案された標準規格の集まり．当初は小規模コンピュータ（デスクトップやタワー型のワークステーション）を主な対象にしていたが，SCSIはほとんどのコンピュータ環境のニーズを満たすように拡張され，今日では非常に広く実装されたI/Oインターコネクトとして用いられている．

A collection of ANSI standards and proposed standards which define I/O interconnects primarily intended for connecting storage subsystems or devices to hosts through host bus adapters. Originally intended primarily for use with small (desktop and desk-side workstation) computers, SCSI has been extended to serve most computing needs, and is arguably the most widely implemented I/O interconnect in use today.
