モード分散

マルチモードファイバで伝送される光信号のひずみ。各種伝搬モードの時間遅延が異なるために発生する。この結果、ファイバが長くなるにつれて信号のエッジがより不鮮明になり、データ速度の関数としての最大長が制限される。

Distortion in the optical signal transmitted through a multimode fiber caused by different time delays for the various modes of propagation. The　result is a smearing of the signal edges that increases with the length of the fiber, limiting the maximum length as a function of the data rate.
