メンバディスクの内容を交換ディスクにコピーして，適切に機能しているアレイのメンバを他のディスクに入れ換えること．コピーバックは，もっぱらアレイの特定の物理構成（例えば，デバイスI/Oインターコネクト上のアレイメンバの特定の配置など）を作成もしくは復旧するのに頻繁に用いられるが，アレイの縮退なしに実現可能である．

The replacement of a properly functioning array member by another disk, including copying of the member’s contents to the replacing disk. Copyback, which is most often used to create or restore a particular physical configuration for an array (e.g., a particular arrangement of array members on device I/O interconnects), is accomplished without reduction of the array.
