ディスクもしくはアレイのI/O性能改善を主な目的としてホスト内に置かれるキャッシュ．ホストキャッシュはファイルシステムやデータベースに対応している場合がある．この場合，キャッシュで置かれたデータアイテムはファイルやデータベースのエンティティである．代わりに，ホストキャッシュはデバイスドライバのスタックに対応している場合がある．この場合，キャッシュされたデータアイテムは一連のディスクブロックである．参照：cache, controller cache, disk cache

A cache that resides within a host computer whose primary purpose is to improve disk or array I/O performance. Host cache may be associated with a file system or database, in which case, the data items stored in the cache are file or database entities.
